About Laura

Hello, and welcome!

I'm an ASU Barrett Honors alumna with a B.S. in human systems engineering, UX. It wasn't until the last year of my undergrad that I shifted my focus to UX. Still, I could leverage her academic foundation of human factors principles and research to develop proficiency in user-centered design methodologies. Motivated by experience with applications featuring subpar info architecture and navigation, I am inspired to craft more intuitive and engaging experiences, elevating user experiences.

In addition to my passion for user experience, I believe human factors play a crucial role in the developmental understanding of applications and systems related to human-tech interactions. I have included a page showcasing my human factors research experience.  To learn more, you can navigate to my academic research page below!

Fun Facts

Laura loves to climb!

Pictured is me trying to climb a super tall tree stump in North Bend, Washington! I love being in nature, whether hiking in the mountains or kayaking down the Salt River.

Laura loves to travel!

I am a sucker for exploring new places and love to travel, but if I had to pick a favorite city to visit, it would be a tie between Seattle, Washington, and Kona, Hawaii!

Laura loves to create!

As a DesertWAVE (Women in Autonomous Vehicle Engineering) member, I learned how to 3D-model with CADD and develop mechanisms for our underwater robots. I helped to design a marker dropper and a grabber arm. I learned a lot about working in a team and task delegation. If you'd like to explore more about my time in robotics, check out my robotics page!

Laura's Favorite Project

Lions, Tigers, and Bears!

My favorite design project so far was when I used my design skills to create jungle-themed food tags for my nephew's birthday party!

GIT 2023 Awardee

GIT 2023 Awardee: Outstanding Web Design

It is an honor to receive this award for my web design work. The summer before senior year, I boldly decided to shift my career goals toward UX, a field that was, at the time,  foreign to me. Looking back after graduation, I have no regrets. I am proud of the accomplishments I achieved and the growth that I experienced!
